Throughout the NHS
and public sector helping professions there are pockets of dedicated
tappers working with skill and enthusiasm in mental health, primary care,
palliative care, drug and alcohol services and physiotherapy. We
also know of success with EFT in schools, the police and prison
service. There is much excellent work and heart warming
stories.
However we know that many others are
experiencing frustration and isolation as they encounter barriers to
acceptance of this simple, effective and readily accessible helping technique.
We are constantly asked "where is the research?" Well EFT is the new kid on the block of psychological therapies and has come of age in the complementary sector outside of the Universities and medical research establishments. Though there is a treasure trove of anecdotal evidence and some published research EFT seems to be stuck in a "Catch 22" and there is little research because there is little research. Research needs a respected community of support and a sufficient base of well documented case evidence to attract interest and funding.
The aim of this gathering is to bring together from a variety of sectors and agencies those who can begin to build that community of support together with experienced EFT trainers and therapists for two days of learning, sharing and networking. We may not have the answers but together we can explore, define and clarify the questions.
Who knows what ideas, projects and commitments will emerge...
The
Conference Programme
Please see the EFT Gathering Page for the structure of the weekend. There will be a four breakout sessions for those working in the NHS and public sector and four plenary sessions with the full audience and a range of presentations. The NHS breakout sessions are clearly marked on the Programme page.
The programme has been designed
for interaction and practical learning. Each day will feature:
- presentations with live
demonstrations and teaching from EFT experts on fascinating and relevant
topics;
- success stories of
implementation initiatives and getting EFT accepted in the helping
professions;
- the opportunity for individual participants
to introduce their own work, outline cases and share learning;
- and think-tank discussion panels to
bounce ideas around, share strategies for acceptance and build on best
practice
Though primarily intended to support and inspire those in the NHS and
public sector the breakout sessions are open to all attending The EFT Gathering.
The Craiglands Hotel, Ilkley, West Yorkshire is a fitting venue
having been built by a doctor in the 1850s as a hydrotherapy spa.
Now a sought after weddings and conference venue the building provides us
with a peaceful location, beautiful views of Wharfdale and the famous
Ilkley moor and excellent food.
See the Where to Stay and How to Get There pages for venue and travel
information.
